Anchorage Pride Update:

2022 Pride Announcement

As a result of significant changes in our organizational capacity, Identity will not host Pride in 2022.

Identity believes that Pride should reflect the diversity of our community and the joy in coming together to celebrate mutual liberation. We recognize that Identity still has work to do in addressing structural racism within our spaces, and are currently working with several experts, such as Clifford Armstrong III, Agnew-Beck and others to help ensure that Identity’s mission and work are aligned with the wants and needs of our community. We are dedicated to being conscious about Identity’s interactions and impact.

Our new slate of working board members are committed to making sure that Identity does necessary work to be truly inclusive and antiracist. Thank you to everyone who communicated with Identity in the last year. Your ideas, talents, and efforts to hold Identity accountable are leading to positive change.

Identity will continue to lift up the many Pride events held in Anchorage and across the state in 2022. We will be putting together a calendar of events and if you are planning something or interested in setting up a local event, please let us know. We will be able to promote your event via our social media, listserv and webite.

Identity is happy to announce that we are doing vital work with the Identity Clinic and advocacy for LGBTQIA2S+ civil rights legislation and are undergoing organizational planning in 2022.

In April, Identity will celebrate our first year providing life-saving health care to LGBTQIA2S+ Alaskans and youth through the Identity Health Clinic. You will hear more about this achievement in the coming weeks, as well as information about our new board and officers.

We are grateful to be in community with you, and to continue to grow. Be safe and well!
Gratefully,

Identity Board of Directors
Co-Chair: Alex Sallee
Co-Chair: Owen Hutchinson
Treasurer: Amy Hillenbrand
